1. What information is collected from me?
As an employer, you may complete online forms such as product information requests, Career Description Surveys, and general enquiries. These requests are confidentially processed by a SmartHire Representative who will call you to confirm your request and answer any questions you may have.

When registering as a Career Seeker on the SmartHire® web site, you will be asked to provide personal and non-personal data, including contact information, employment profiles, resumes, and cover letters, through the use of online forms. Yes, SmartHire collects geographic information (such as your province of residence) for the purpose of promotion on our website. We display aggregate data such as the provincial breakdown of listed employers registered with our company. This information is non-personal and is intended to give potential Career Seekers a general idea of the geographic location of employers registered with SmartHire.

4. What information is collected about me from third parties?
Through SmartHire®'s reference checking procedures, information is collected about you from work-related and personal references that you have provided to us. If you have been short-listed for a particular vacancy, a standard reference check is performed in order to further qualify you for the position. These individuals may not be listed as references; however, they will be able to provide valuable input as to your competencies. If you are currently employed and do not want to be contacted at your workplace, please inform SmartHire® and we will respect your request.

In some circumstances, SmartHire® will contract a third party to perform a background check on a selected short-listed candidate.
